A night of music made entirely with the mouth: no instruments, only human voice. Mouthbox: The Beatbox Gig brings four of the UK's top beatboxers, Mad Speed, Deity, Lucid and Milky, to The Lubber Fiend in Newcastle upon Tyne for a 30-minute set each, one mouth and one microphone at a time, running through house, hip-hop, drum and bass and more.
It is not a battle. Nobody is judged and nobody is knocked out. Beatbox lives almost entirely on the competitive circuit, where the performers are almost never paid to be on stage, so Mouthbox was built the other way around: every artist on the line-up gets paid for their set. Newcastle's own Mad Speed puts it on, and billed it as the city's first ever beatbox gig.
